Gabriel Griffin's book about the Heathens MF was one of the Highlights of the last weeks...
Check out more here
And read what Gabriel is saying about it...
"This is a project that has been on the top of my OCD list for the last three or four years. I started out playing music with lyrics from a 60's club members point of view and that turned into a three camera, two car shoot from California to South Dakota to interview the original members of the Venice and South Bay Heathens Motorcycle Family. Crazy. I couldn't believe I was going to actually do it while I was coordinating the camera crew and renting vehicles. If someone came to me and said "hey, I'm going to hang out with this motorcycle gang that I met. You want to bring a video camera and film it?" I would think that guy was crazy. Motorcycle clubs don't put up with that shit. Well, this group liked me enough to let me sit down with them and tell the story of the rise and fall of their club in the 70's and 80's. Hours and hours and hours of video footage, interviews, hundreds of vintage photos collected and too many crazy stories to tell in one sitting. That turned into the book that you see here. It turns out editing is extremely expensive and this movie is going to take a good chunk of time in the editing booth."

This one's for the weekend...
as promised, a little more on the new Chopper project...decided to keep the original shovel complete for now...and just have a go with the new frame and some parts I've been gatering for a while now...as usual this will be some kind of on going...tryin out diffferent setups kinda project ...and then maybe, just maybe we'll get in a "finished" version in a couple of years from now.Untill mid Januari I will remain busy moving the work shop...squeezing 300m2 of stuff gathered over the last 10 years in a new homeshop of about 50m2 is kindoff an adventure...
Also some different paintjobs need to be finished...so plenty to do for the time being...
But for now (in a couple of hours) it's of to the Vetfrakken Swapmeet near Antwerp and on Sunday the search for more parts continues at the HAMC Ghent Swapmeet.
will be great catching up with a lot of people...
Meanwhile keep checking the blog for your occasional update...

Teardown of the shovel has started slowly, next week's aim is to continue stripping down while mockin' up the second bike.
Still unsure about the exact looks...sooooo much inspiration to be found on soooooo many cool bikes from the past...and present...gotta stop looking on the net and get myself into the shed.
Below just a few of the ones blowing my mind...
I really wonder what the bike is going to look like, but a good friend just recently told me it's always a good idea to go with the Flow...Thank's buddy, that's what I'm gonno do!
now check these out ...

During the next couple of weeks I will be moving all the stuff I collected over the last 5 years from my old shop to the new (and Mucho smaller) Homeshop...Although working from home makes me feel a lot better, I will miss the old place from the moment I hand over the key to the new guy.
Plenty of great memories about this place will last forever though. Monday, November 29, 2010
WINTERTIME...has arrived! about time to get back in the shed to start complete makeover of the Shovel and in the same time start building the new bike! on top of that we plan to build a 70ies chopper around a gastank I painted lately...let's see what comes of all this.
For now this is the latest look of the Shovel...something completely different will show up in spring 2011.

It's on the Motorized! blog too, but since this is a Chopper build by one of my Heroes, Danny Franssen, it goes on here too. Other than that, it's one fabulous Chopper...
